  • Type: Builder
  • Sport(s): Hockey and Paralympics
  • Year: 2022

An individual builder from PEI in service of the National Handicapped (Sledge) para-Olympic Team— a dedicated individual who was the original, then head equipment manager for this team – a significant task/effort to look after 20 handicapped adult hockey players. Grant, a solidly built and especially caring individual, almost single-handedly took great care of all team members for 8 years and counting. While all equipment mangers are to be lauded for the hard work they do, this was a phenomenal effort in his ninth year by a special, dedicated individual, the epitome of selfless hard work in the service of others. Today, as head equipment manager for the national team, he heads a small team of three. Born in Charlottetown, Grant currently resides in Cornwall, PEI, but as team manager during competition, he was primarily based out of Calgary, including 3.5 weeks before the Beijing games, but was also involved in 10-12-day stints in Bridgewater, NS, St. Louis, Missouri, and Elmira, ON. He was manager with Team Canada for their two silver medals (the USA twice won gold) won in the Czech Republic (2019) and in the Beijing para-Olympics (2022).
