William C. (Billy) McIntyre

Billy McIntyre was born in 1914 at Barkers Point, New Brunswick on the Saint John River across from Fredericton … and died in Truro in 2009.  Between 1937 and 1956, Billy packed into those 19 years an outstanding sports career in baseball and hockey in three provinces, New Brunswick, Quebec, and Nova Scotia.

In Baseball, Billy won New Brunswick titles with the Devon Tigers in 1940 and 1950 and 1949 with the Fredericton Capitals.

In 1943, 1944, 1946, and 1950 played pro baseball in the Halifax and District (H & D) League, and in 1946 won the H & D batting title with the Truro Bear Cats.

Billy’s hockey career began in 1935. He played for the 1939-1040 Devon Tigers when they won the New Brunswick Senior title and in 1941-42 played with the Truro Bear Cats when they won the Maritime Title.
